The Threat of Foreign Minerals

Green coffee harvested globally unavoidably contains foreign contaminants: basalt stones, field gravel, cement debris, and stray metal wire. Even with rigorous optical sorting at origin, high-density roasted coffee beans will inevitably carry foreign minerals into the cooling tray.

A single 5mm stone entering an industrial roller mill or commercial burr grinder causes catastrophic blade chipping, electric motor burnout, and massive production downtime.

Specific Gravity Separation

The RC-Tech DESTONER series employs the physical principle of terminal air velocity. Roasted coffee beans have an average bulk density between 0.35 and 0.45 g/cm³, whereas foreign stones possess a density of 2.2 to 2.8 g/cm³.

By generating a laminar vertical airflow column in an AISI 304 stainless steel chamber:

1. Roasted coffee reaches terminal velocity and floats effortlessly upward into the storage silo. 2. Heavier stones, glass, and metals cannot achieve lift and drop downward into the bottom isolation drawer. 3. The process runs 100% dry with zero mechanical bean breakage or oil bruising.
